My Story
Life often takes unpredictable turns, and no one is immune to adversities. Despite our best efforts, we often need a ladder or a bridge to help us connect, reconnect, recover, discover, achieve empowerment and self-actualization.
As a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist with a Master of Social Work degree from York
University, I recognize that everyone is unique, every situation is exceptional, and there is no one-size-fits-all solution. I am here to help you navigate your walk between the raindrops.
As a person of faith, I was led into psychotherapy by God, who took the wheel and led me in the
direction he wanted me to go. With over ten years experience in Social Work and Psychotherapy, I support clients with diverse issues, such as family crisis, couples and families with relationship issues, custody and access assessment, parent-teen conflict, mental health challenges in children and adults, behavioural issues, conflicts in separation and divorce, workplace issues, loneliness, and self-esteem.
My practice approach is Solution-Focused, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Humanist/Client- Centered Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. I offer a non-judgmental approach and use such techniques as active listening, understanding, empathy, acceptance, and encouragement within an anti-oppressive framework.
My favourite theorist is Carl Rodgers, who believes in unconditional positive regard for the client.
Together, we can effect change within a sphere of hope, motivation, and determination.
During the first session, we will discover and get a grasp of the challenges faced. In subsequent sessions, we will explore different techniques, look at new ways of seeing and doing things, and learn how to handle situations so that the challenges are better managed or completely resolved. I like reading, cooking, travelling, exploring nature, biographies, and healthy living. I am also a news junkie. I look forward to supporting you on your journey.
